Question: What would u call a lie? what you tell someone, or what u make someone think by what you say (the impression created by your words)?

Well brother I do believe it to be all the above..it can be what we say misleading..and it can be what we make people think misleadingly and it also can be created by the impression we use by our wrong words misleadingly.:)

I agree with Michelle it is not only a lie but the art of manipulation at play when you create a false impression both are deceptive and misleading.

I also say.. when someone tells you something and you believe what they have said but infact it was a lie. then you go tell someone else then you have lied to as well as gossiped.

But everyone lies and if anyone says they don't thats a lie in itself......

I mean if someone asks you do you want to go out and u don't feel like it but u don't want to hurt their feeling you might say oh i have something on sorry can't ... but u really don'tn have anything on then thats a lie as well

Lie is a falsehood uttered and/or demonstrated for the purpose of deception; an intentional violation of truth.

It is willful deceit that makes a lie. A man may act a lie, as by pointing his finger in a wrong direction, when a traveler inquires of him his road.

But a lie is considered a sin when it is a lie to God. So telling lies to someone who has the right to know the truth is a sin.

Lets say that traveller was demanding for directions to a man's house with intentions to hurt that family. If you are aware of his intentions, then he does not have the right to the truth.

Note that examples like mine and parables and fables are fiction. Utterances without conciousness to deceive are not lies.

Desception is the most deadly of all lies, like it was for our first ancestor in the Garden of Eden. Satan lied to Eve about the effects of Sin. Satan said that sin is not deadly and also said that they will become LIKE God. They found out later on how the Truth of GOD's Word was proven to be right.

As we know from the scriptures that Satan is called the father of lies. This means that he is a liar by will.
Lies comes out naturally from the heart and mind of all whom are of Satan.

The opposite of Satan is the Spirit of GOD, whom is called and referred as the Spirit of TRUTH.
A person that is BORN of GOD cannot lie by will nor purposely or consciencely because they have the Spirit of God dwelling within them to guide them into the TRUTH.
So, it will be very hard to lie as a child of GOD by own will or purposely.

John 8
43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.
44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a LIE, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

45 And because I tell you the TRUTH, ye believe me not.
46 Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me?
47 He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.

The words Jesus spoke were/are of the Truth. In Him there is no SIN. So, Talking the Truth is the NATURE of GOD.
God cannot lie. It is not in HIS Nature to LIE.

If we look to our own nature of SIN, we all are liars in some way or another. Because our nature of SIN cannot accept the TRUTH as it is presented by God, who is the TRUTH.
Thats why Holy Spirit is our Guide into the TRUTH. The True Holiness and Righteousness is found in God only.

The humanheart is very misleading. The humanmind is very manipulative. Thats why we cannot LEAN on our own heart and mind for the TRUTH. We can only lean upon God for the Truth.

Teach me thy WAY, O LORD; I will walk in thy TRUTH: unite my HEART to fear thy name. in me.

Trust in Him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before Him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.

God teaches us His WAYS of TRUTH.

A lie is when your kids at a very young age will ask you things and you dont want them to know what it is they want to know.

.mum or dad is that really santa?
.Is the easter bunny real?
.where do babys come from?

And the list goes on but if we want our kids to grow up to no whats a lie and whats not a lie should we first know what we are lieing about before we tell the kids whats a lie and whats not a lie?

Scott i keep telling people they are teaching kids to lie from birth... your right when we say to our kids Santa is watching and if your bad you won't get presents .... thats when we are teaching our children to lie, well we do know thats a lie so we and no one should be telling kids that santa is real..... Also that is teaching kids as well at christmas time you can sit on a strangers knee... or except lollies from a stranger... but yet people say to kids don't take or talk to any strangers.... at a young age what if someone comes up to that child dressed as santa this child will see this person as good and not a stranger....
